What does it actually take to leave?
‍Not in theory, but in practice. Time, cost, disruption.

Those answers should tell you a lot more than a polished demo. At the end of the day, you’re not only buying capability, you’re deciding how much control you keep once the system is in place.

Why it shows up in day-to-day operations

This is where it stops being a systems conversation and starts showing up in the way work actually gets done.

On some sites, even fairly small improvements turn into structured projects. Teams end up adjusting how they work to fit the system. New ideas get weighed up against the effort of implementing them, and plenty of them never make it through.

The bigger cracks usually show up when the operation changes.
